i notice that you mention handke's 'offending the audience' which i translated many years ago and now prefer to call 'public insult', since 'abusing the public' or variations thereof don't work any more with all the abuse the word abuse has suffered over the years and the connotations attached to it. here are some links to handke material on the web:
